Coming Soon? Wild rice harvesters often are looking for options to process their wild rice. It is a common question heard from harvesters: Where can I get my rice processed? The 1854 Treaty Authority has been working to compile a list of wild rice processors. Currently, we have an informal list of contacts, and we would like to provide information here for harvesters to utilize. Before listing any contacts, we would need to get the O.K. from the processors themselves. If you are a processor who is interested in having your contact information listed and distributed, please contact Darren Vogt at the 1854 Treaty Authority. Of course, for any contacts listed, our disclaimer would be not to endorse any in particular, but to simply provide information. |

Efforts are being made to improve communication with and among rice harvesters. This page will provide a location to share any current information (meetings, conferences, legislation, studies, reports, etc.) relating to wild rice. |

Harvester input meetings In early 2007, a series of meetings was conducted in several locations across Minnesota and Wisconsin to gather input from ricers on a variety of issues, specifically on the concept of developing some form of a wild rice council or advisory group. SORA (Save Our Rice Alliance) has since been formed. A report entitled "A Summary of Wild Rice Harvester Meetings in Northern Minnesota and Wisconsin" by Annette Drewes is available on the reports and publications page (click here). |
